Holy bleep, how do I even start this blog post?! Monica and I know each other from a few years ago when she interned with me. She’s such a sweet and genuine soul! Apparently she made it clear to Adam that when he proposed, he better have me there… LOL! So he contacted me a couple weeks ago with the NUTS idea to propose at this super exclusive, hard-to-get-into exhibit… to somehow sneak me in but I’d have to be close to them in order to go into the 20 second viewing room with them… and I couldn’t be recognized by her before this moment or else she would know something was up. Basically, Adam was sweating bullets and so was I. I’ve done crazy things to photograph proposals in my day, but this was probably the craziest. Because of how the Yayoi Kusama exhibition is set up with timed tickets, we would be in close proximity when we were all lining up to be let into the level with the art show. So I did what I had to do: sprayed my hair bright purple and wore a disguise of a baseball hat, ha!!! I felt like a spy… arriving early and waiting around in the queue area, watching for them to arrive. When they did, I was in full creeper mode. We got to the exhibit with no incident, and Monica’s best friend Nancy was also able to come last minute. I trailed them, waiting for the moment they’d go into room #1 where Adam was going to propose. At the LAST second, Nancy didn’t go in and I switched places with her. This is where the photos begin below. In the first picture, you can see Monica has seen me, and knows what’s happening when she turns around. Please join me in happy crying! Congrats Monica and Adam! ADAM, you’re man of the year for pulling this off! And PS, everyone needs a best friend like Nancy. Girlfriend is such a blast.
