Where do I begin when it comes to Tara and Ben? I was given the opportunity to really connect with and get to know them when I flew to NYC and stayed with them overnight to shoot their engagement photos in Brooklyn, and it really always means so much to me when clients allow me into their space like that. Their story is special and wonderful, and their love has survived and grown amidst long distance and then an 800 mile move. These are two beautiful, genuine, solid people who love each other immensely in ways that count. I was so happy to be part of their day.
To accompany this blog post and the wedding highlight therein, I wanted to share part of Tara’s initial email inquiry to me. And then, onto the photos that hopefully hit each and every one of her wishes.
“I am a very sentimental person. When I look at the body of your work, I feel you may be that way too. Your photos seem to tell a story of not just one day in a couples life, but everything that brought them there, and the uniqueness of their love. All we really want are real and honest photos that will make us cry 30 years down the road. I love a good cry. I want to see the things that maybe we are too caught up in the moment to miss. I want to know what the trees looked like in the sun (or rain) right before I get to be with my favorite person for life. I want to feel how cold the creek was that will flow behind us. I want to see the hugs, laughs, tears of my guests. I want to know what the inevitable bourbon driven sing along/dance party looks like from the outside. I want to smell the campfire smoke and sweet grass of my childhood memories. Most importantly, I just want a reflection of Ben and I’s love for each other, nature, and our family and friends.”
